Ron is a native of Florida, but left after high school to pursue a History degree from Yale and then a law degree from Harvard. Ron swore into the Navy JAG (Judge Advocate General) Corps while finishing his law degree. Soon after, he began a military journey that would take him Florida, California, Guantanamo Bay, and Iraq. When he left Active Duty in 2010 Ron chose to stay in the Naval Reserves.
Ron has returned to Florida. He lives in Point Vedra Beach with his wife Casey.
Where Ron Stands
Modern Washington is completely different from the dreams and ideals of the founders. Our government is supposed to be run by ordinary citizens, not career politicians. Our laws are supposed to be universal, and they are advertised that way, but there are clauses that separate the Washington ruling class – they are exempt from following every law they make.
Ron has proposed an amendment to the constitution to change this, to force politicians to be held to the same standards as ordinary citizens.
He has also proposed term limits. There is an amendment to the constitution to limit the President – why not the legislative branch? The point of having a government run by its citizens is so those who govern are aware of the needs of the majority, not working for the profits of the minority.
Our system encourages career politicians. Ron wants to change that. he proposed cutting the political pension. After working in congress for only five years members are vested and can receive a pension if they meet the requirements as early as 50 years old. It’s a system that’s designed to encourage long term work in government; benefit pay outs increase with time served in congress or the senate.
The best defense is a strong offense. How many times have you heard that statement? Ron knows the truth to it. That’s why he supports a strengthened military.
The last eight years have seen cowardly relations with enemies and weak relations with allies. We cannot allow that type of foreign policy to remain, or our enemies will grow stronger and bolder. The war with Islamic jihadists is already here, it’s not fiction, war is at our doorstep.
These radicals believe our entire culture is their enemy and that they have been commanded to eradicate those who do not follow their own way of life.
We must protect ourselves and we must protect our culture.
Ron fights for a stronger military, a more advanced military. He advocates for strengthening our relationships with our allies – not turning our backs on them.
Ron knows the average American has suffered in the past years of a stagnant economy. Workers have not seen pay increases but everyone has seen the cost of food, gas, education, and medical care rise substantially.
Onto of a slow economy American taxpayers are being robbed. The over complicated tax code heavily burdens Americans who can barely afford housing and groceries.
We need job growth – and not just in DC, we need it all over the country. We need pay raises that at the very least keep up with inflation. And we need a market that isn’t constantly falling and destroying retirement funds.
